Who this page is for

VelocityEHS sits closer to ENSURE's space than the legacy enterprise platforms. So the buyers landing here are usually in three specific situations.

1. You started with MSDSonline / VelocityEHS Chem and bolted on EHS later.

Your chemical inventory has lived there for years. Then someone added incidents. Then audits. Now you're paying for four separately-licensed modules that don't quite talk to each other, and the renewal quote is climbing every cycle.

2. You evaluated VelocityEHS and the per-module math broke your budget.

The base seat price looked reasonable. Then chemicals added a tier, ergonomics added a tier, ESG added a tier, training added a tier. The final number landed at three to five times what you'd expected. You're 80–200 employees and a single HSE Manager.

3. You're an EU-based SME and US data residency keeps coming up.

Procurement, legal, or a customer of yours has flagged the US-primary hosting. You want a Swiss-made, EU-hosted alternative without giving up the modern UX and connected modules that drew you to VelocityEHS in the first place.

If any of those is you, ENSURE is built for your situation. Below is the honest comparison.

Where ENSURE wins

Five places ENSURE outperforms VelocityEHS for SMEs

If you're between 20 and 500 employees, these are the dimensions that usually decide the call.

01 · Pricing model

One subscription, all 18 modules. Always.

VelocityEHS's per-module pricing means every QHSE workflow has its own line item. Need chemicals + incidents + audits + training? Four products, four seat tiers, one bill that doubles every two renewals. ENSURE is one seat price for the whole platform.

02 · Connected data model

An incident updating the risk register is one click, not an integration.

VelocityEHS modules were assembled through acquisitions (Humantech, others) and product lines. The integrations work, but they're integrations. ENSURE's 18 modules were built on a single data model — cross-module workflows are first-class, not bolted on.

03 · EU data residency by default

Swiss-led team, Irish data centre, GDPR-native.

For European safety-critical buyers (pharma, energy, manufacturing), US-primary hosting raises questions in every procurement cycle. ENSURE's residency story is clean by default — no negotiation tier, no enterprise contract required.

04 · AI in the workflows that matter

Hazard analysis, SDS, and Legal Register — grounded in your own data.

Three specific workflows where AI saves a measurable number of hours: JHA generation from a task description, SDS PDF → structured GHS data, and ISO/OSHA clause extraction into your Legal Register. Each is built into the workflow, not pinned as a sidebar chatbot.

05 · Sales without the gauntlet

30-minute call with the founder. That's it.

No SDR call to qualify you, no four-stage discovery cycle, no procurement workflow before you've seen the product. If we're a fit you'll know in one call. If we're not, we'll tell you on the same call.

06 · Time-to-value

First incident logged on day two.

VelocityEHS implementations are faster than the legacy enterprise platforms but still typically run weeks to months with a dedicated PM. ENSURE is designed to be set up by one HSE Manager in days — the schema is opinionated enough that there's less to configure.

Honest section

When VelocityEHS is the better choice for you

Comparison pages that bash the competitor lose trust. Here's where VelocityEHS is genuinely the right call.

Ergonomics is a core part of your EHS program

VelocityEHS acquired Humantech in 2019, and the resulting ergonomics tooling is industry-leading. If you run formal ergonomics assessments, MSD risk scoring, or office/industrial ergonomics programs as a daily workflow, VelocityEHS is purpose-built for it. ENSURE does not compete here.

You manage a regulated chemical portfolio at global scale

VelocityEHS grew out of MSDSonline. The depth of their chemical management platform — global SDS authoring, multi-region regulatory tracking, exposure modelling at scale — is hard to match. For an SME's chemical inventory, ENSURE's Chemicals module is solid; for Fortune-500 product stewardship, VelocityEHS goes much deeper.

You're 1,000+ employees and want a mature implementation programme

VelocityEHS has the dedicated PMs, the implementation playbooks, and the customer-success teams for large rollouts across multiple sites and business units. ENSURE's onboarding model assumes you want to do most of it yourself in days — fast and lean, but not the right shape for a 2,000-person multi-site rollout.

Public case studies and reference logos matter to your internal stakeholders

VelocityEHS has been around since 2000 and has accumulated reference customers across most industries. ENSURE is in its founding-customer phase. If your CFO or board needs to see a specific industry logo or case study before signing off, VelocityEHS will likely have it and we won't yet.

FAQ

Common questions about switching from VelocityEHS

Will I lose chemical management depth if I switch?

For most SMEs, no. ENSURE's Chemicals module handles GHS classification, SDS inventory, exposure data, and PPE/storage data. AI SDS extraction reads a PDF and pre-fills the structured fields. The depth gap shows up only at Fortune-500 product-stewardship scale — REACH/TSCA portfolio management across thousands of substances.

What about Humantech ergonomics?

Honest answer: ENSURE does not have ergonomics tooling. If formal ergonomic assessments are a daily part of your QHSE workflow, VelocityEHS is the better fit. If ergonomics sits at the edge of your program rather than the centre, you can typically run that workflow externally and integrate findings into ENSURE's Risk Register and CAPA modules.

How does the total cost actually compare?

VelocityEHS is module-priced; ENSURE includes all 18 modules at one per-seat rate. For SMEs running three or more EHS workflows actively (which is most), ENSURE's total is typically substantially lower. We'll quote your specific case on the 30-min call.

Can I export my data out of VelocityEHS into ENSURE?

Yes. VelocityEHS supports standard data exports (CSV, Excel, sometimes API). We handle the mapping into ENSURE's schema, including SDS records, incident history, risk assessments, audit findings, and training records. The exact migration plan depends on which modules you've used.

How long does migration take?

A typical 50–200 person SME migration runs 2–6 weeks. Phase 1: data export and schema mapping. Phase 2: parallel-run both systems briefly to verify. Phase 3: cutover. We handle most of it directly — no third-party implementation services required.

Is ENSURE EU-hosted? Where exactly does the data live?

Yes. Data lives in Supabase EU (Ireland — eu-west-1). Our privacy policy lists every sub-processor publicly. Article 28 Data Processing Agreement is available on request. Swiss-led team.

You're a new company. What's the risk if you disappear?

Fair question. Data is fully exportable in standard formats at any time — not held hostage. Our sub-processor list uses well-established infrastructure (Supabase, Vercel, Cloudflare). We're in our founding-customer phase, which is reflected in pricing and the fact that you talk to the founder directly. We'll walk you through our security architecture and continuity plan on the call.

Do you offer a DPA, SOC 2, or ISO 27001?

DPA: yes, on request. SOC 2 and ISO 27001: on the roadmap as the customer base requires. We're happy to walk through our security architecture, RLS model, and operational controls in detail on the call.

Worth a 30-minute call?

If you're somewhere between an Excel mess and a VelocityEHS multi-module SOW, we should talk. 30 minutes with the founder — no SDR layer, no pre-qualification. We'll show you ENSURE running on a workflow that matches yours, and we'll tell you on the same call whether we're a fit.
