Home/ Product/ Permit to Work

No permit issues without a current JHA.

Work permits with built-in JHA dependency, isolation tracking, on-site sign-on / sign-off with timestamps, and auto-enforced expiry. The paper permit your team forgets in a locker — finally digital.

The problem

Paper permits don't survive a wash-down.

A permit to work is the last line of defence before high-risk work. On paper it gets forgotten in a locker, soaked, or lost. ENSURE makes it digital: the permit can't issue without the right JHA, every accepter signs on at the start and off at the end, and expiry is enforced automatically.

Required JHA before issue

Org setting: PTW requires a current JHA. When on, the permit form has a dropdown filtered to active JHAs and won't submit without one picked. The permit's controls are inherited from the JHA so the team works to the same hazard analysis.

  • Per-org toggle: required / optional / by permit type
  • JHA dropdown filtered to currently-active records
  • Controls inherited automatically — no copy-paste

Sign-on / sign-off with timestamps

Every person on the permit signs on at start (acknowledges hazards + controls) and signs off at end. Timestamps preserved in the audit trail. Issuer sees who's currently signed on at any moment.

  • Per-person sign-on at start, sign-off at end
  • Live "currently on permit" count visible to issuer
  • Audit-ready: who, what, when — preserved forever

Auto-expiry with extension workflow

Permits expire at the configured time, full stop. Want to extend? That re-triggers the issue workflow — the issuer signs off on the new validity window. No silent extensions. No "we forgot to close it."

  • Server-enforced expiry — not a UI nag
  • Extension re-triggers issuer sign-off
  • Expired permit blocks any further sign-on

Connected to everything else

A permit sits in a chain of evidence.

The JHA before, the sign-on register during, the close-out after. If anything goes wrong, the trail is one query, not three filing cabinets.
